This is not a disposable starter box. The Bug Farmer™ 5 Frame NUC Hive is made to the same exacting standards as the APEX line from Bug Farmer™ Hiveworks: select-grade lumber with very few knots, precision-machined half-blind dovetail joints for a tight, durable fit and minimal exposed end-grain, and an HDO plywood migratory lid with an optional feeding hole and a 3/8" riser for easy pollen patty feeding. This NUC includes a solid wood bottom board with a 4" wide 3/8" high entrance to protect a small colony by providing a small area to defend.
It arrives fully assembled and sanded, ready for the finish you choose. For maximum longevity, order it wax-boiled in our proprietary micro-crystalline paraffin blend providing protection designed for years of reliable service in the yard. Want it to stand out?
